Telehealth Eye Exams

BOSTON EYE GROUP – BOSTON LASER

TELEHEALTH EYE EXAMS NOW AVAILABLE.

Dear Patient,

As the coronavirus impacts all of our lives on a daily basis we want to make sure you are aware that the team of Boston Eye Group doctors are here for all of your eye care needs. We are still seeing patients in the office but for those who would prefer a virtual visit, we have established Telehealth visits. Please see below for more details.

TELEHEALTH VISITS

We have started the process of offering Telehealth to all of our patients for their upcoming eye appointments. The use of telehealth has been effective in communicating with our patients and attending to many of their eye care needs.

Below are frequently asked questions regarding our telehealth protocol.

Will I be charged a copay by choosing telehealth?

No, the visit will be billed to insurance but most copays including medicare have been waived for telehealth during the pandemic.

What if it is an emergency?

We are still seeing all regular and emergency patients in the office. If you feel you need to be seen right away please call the office at 617-566-0062 and one of our doctors will be in touch with you as soon as possible. The doctor may ask to triage your issue via telehealth first.

Do I have to do telehealth for my upcoming appointment?

No, it is not required, you can simply call the office to confirm or schedule your in person appointment.

What software will be used for telehealth?

The preferred method will be a video chat using Google Meet. Boston Eye Group will send you a unique link to join with your doctor. If Google Meet does not work for you, we are also supporting FaceTime and WhatsApp. We are also exploring using Zoom for these calls. It is important to test and troubleshoot your software before the appointment time!

How do I schedule an appointment for telehealth?

Call the Office at 617-566-0062 to be set up with a Telehealth visit. Please be advised that certain visits cannot be done via telehealth such as updating a glasses or contact lens prescription.

Will I be seeing my current provider?

Not all providers are participating in the telehealth program but feel free to ask.

I am a retina patient and I am required to be seen?

Yes, Dr. Najafi needs to see you in the office, we cannot examine the retina via telehealth.

Can I have a LASIK consultation online?

Yes, LASIK consults are being conducted online. Make sure you have your glasses or contact lens prescription at hand.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to email us at help@bostonlaser.com We are all in this together and we are committed to providing you the best possible clinical care during these uncertain times.

Please be safe!
